     More About Me

I have been teaching ESL at Upper Merion for over 7 years, primarily in Caley Elementary. Also, I had been teaching in the district for several years as a substitute teacher and as a one-on-one instructional aide (at the Middle School). Early in my teaching career, I taught in a private school for two years. Back in 2007, part of my student teaching experience was in 4th grade at Candlebrook Elementary and the other half was in an ESL classroom in Methacton school district. I also tutor students privately (contact me if interested).

I spend my time outside of school with my nine-year-old daughter, who's a Caley student! We love to play silly games, eat ice cream, and take trips. I am from New Jersey; so, going “down the shore” is my favorite summer pastime. In my spare time, I like to crochet, do crafts, and learn Latin dances (Salsa, Bachata, and Cha Cha). Recently, I begun taking a tap dance class over Zoom!

I look forward to working with the Virtual Academy students for the remainder of the 2020-2021 school year. The class schedule and assignments will be accessible through Schoology. However, the best way for parents to get in touch with me is by email:  ksawyer@umasd.org. I check email before school and at the end of the day. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions, concerns, or needs. As we partner as family and teacher, together we can help your child be a successful student.
