Ms. Stephanie Dell'Elmo

Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year and to my page! My name is Steph Dell'Elmo, and I am entering my eighteenth year as a social studies teacher here at Upper Merion Area High School. I can't wait to meet all of you and to begin navigating our way through these murky political waters. Don't worry -- we'll find our way together!

I love being on both sides of the classroom, as a student and as a teacher. In addition to pursuing the academic credentials listed, I've been fortunate to have some terrific experiences as a student. I've presented original research on the topic of racial justice in education at the American Political Science Association National Conference in Washington, D.C., participated in programs sponsored by the National Endowment for the Humanities and the Rendell Center for Civics and Civic Engagement, and I've served as a reader for the AP United States Government and Politics exam several times over the years. Most recently, I had the incredible good fortune to be selected to attend the Supreme Court Summer Institute for Teachers, where I worked with terrific people from all across the country to learn new approaches to making landmark legal cases and decisions accessible and manageable for students.

In addition to the courses I teach, I proudly serve as a member of the Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) core team, working to provide everyone here at UMAHS with a rich, rewarding, and equitable school culture. I also enjoy co-sponsoring National Honor Society (NHS) and Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD), both of which afford me the chance to be a member of the wider Upper Merion community, which is my home away from home.
