Degrees and Certifications:
Ms. Stephanie Dell'Elmo
Welcome to the 2021-2022 school year and to my page! My name is Steph Dell'Elmo, and I am entering my sixteenth year as a social studies teacher here at Upper Merion Area High School. I can't wait to meet all of my students so that we can get to work figuring out how to navigate this tricky social and political climate. It's a journey of discovery for everyone, and I can't think of anything better than going down this path with each of you.
I love being on both sides of the classroom, as a student and as a teacher. I earned my B.A. in History from Ursinus College in 2006, after having been a student teacher here at Upper Merion in 2005. I went on to earn my M.A. in History from Villanova University in 2012 and returned a few years later to pursue a post-graduate certificate in Political Science, which I completed in 2019. I've been fortunate to have some terrific experiences as a student. I've presented original research on the topic of racial justice in education at the American Political Science Association National Conference in Washington, D.C., participated in programs sponsored by the National Endowment for the Humanities, and served as a reader for AP United States Government and Politics exam for the past four years.
In addition to teaching AP United States Government and Politics and Sociology, I proudly serve as a member of the Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) core team, which strives to make our school culture rich, rewarding, and equitable. I also enjoy co-sponsoring National Honor Society (NHS) and Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD), both of which afford me the chance to be a member of the wider Upper Merion community, which is my home away from home.
