The Viking Channel is a service of the Upper Merion Area School District in cooperation with Comcast & Verizon Cable. The Viking Channel first came on the air in 1982 with the cablecast of the annual Thanksgiving Football Rivalry between Upper Merion and Norristown. Since then, the channel has broadcast over 9,000 programs to the school district community and now broadcasts over 250 programs per year. The Viking Channel covers a wide variety of varsity sports, concerts, plays, meetings, graduations and special events of all kinds. In addition to our event programming, the Viking Channel has a variety of interview programs spotlighting the students, staff and programs of the Upper Merion Area School District. The staff of the Viking Channel is entirely comprised of high school students who participate as an extra-curricular activity. A select few students participate in an intensive curriculum as part of the high school's independent study program. The students learn to be camera people, directors, editors, producers, instant replay and graphic technicians, and on-air talent. All Viking Channel content is also available in HD online at www.umasd.org/vconline. In addition, we now offer most events live streamed and that content can be found at www.umasd.org/live If you have a question or comment and you would like to reach us, you can email the Coordinator, Brian Reagan, directly at breagan@umasd.org
