Hello Upper Merion Area School District,
I am so excited to be an educator in this amazing community!
As a History Teacher at the High School, I take pride in teaching 9th Grade Humanities, 11th Grade American Cultures, and African American Studies, (available in 10th-12th grades.)
In my first year at Upper Merion High School (2022-2023), I was able to accomplish so many milestones as the first African American Studies teacher who taught the very first African American Studies class. This group and many other students in the high school shared many experiences as Black Student Union members (I have recently accepted a role as one of its staff leaders), taking the district's first Historically Black Colleges and Universities Tour to Howard University, Virginia State University, and Norfolk State University (I was proudly one of the trips chaperones and will continue to be), and assisting in decorating the Sankofa stamps for the seniors Kente Ceremony and Graduation.
I am passionate about the work I've accomplished in only one school year and look forward to doing more for this community!
Respectfully,
Matt Reid
