Welcome to Algebra 1/1A with Mrs. Rober on the Sprinters Team for the 2018-2019 School Year!

Everyone can learn and do math. . .

What is the difference between Algebra 1 vs. Algebra 1A?

Students placed in an Algebra 1 class for their 8th grade year will complete the full year of Algebra 1 and will take the Keystone Algebra 1 exam for the state of Pennsylvania in May of 2018.  Students placed in Algebra 1A in their 8th grade year will complete the first half of Algebra 1 in eigth grade.  The second half of Algebra 1 will be completed in 9th grade.  Meaning these students will take their Algebra 1 Keystone exam in May of their freshmen year.  Students placed in Algebra1A are still considered to be on grade level and are not "behind" in their math courses.

    Supplies:

Students will definitely use the following materials in class:

-1 spiral notebook( former students have suggested a three subject notebook works best)

    -1 large glue stick

    -1 stylus

-1 package of writing utensils that have color; such as colored pencils, gel pens, or skinny markers

    -1 pair of earbuds

-1 binder to hold worksheets/quizzes, homework (You will receive many papers)

    -Pencils, pencils, pencils!!!!!

    Calculator

Although it is not required for class, it is strongly recommended that students purchase his/her own TI-83/84 or TICE graphing calculator.  We use this calculator extensively in class.  The cost is around $90 to $100 and can be found at Wal-Mart, Target, Staples, Amazon, etc.

    Homework

-Homework will be due each Wednesday and Friday of the week, regardless of whether or not we have class due to schedule rotation.  So, when it is Friday, it is Math Homework day.
