Mrs. Melissa Elison

Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year! I'm Mrs. Elison, the Gifted Support and Integrated Science and Social Studies teacher for grades 5 and 6. Prior to this year, I was the Language Arts teacher on the 7th grade Mariners team. I'm so excited to be joining Lower House and meeting my students this year! This is my 7th year teaching here at Upper Merion Area Middle School; however, I have over 13 years of teaching experience, including at Upper Merion Area High School and Penndale Middle School in the North Penn School District. My passion is motivating students to reach their potential. I have a bachelor's degree from Ursinus College and a master's degree from West Chester University. Currently, I am pursuing a second master's degree in Gifted Education from Arizona State University online. In addition, I am a fellow of the Pennsylvania Writing and Literature Project and have been involved in the summer youth program at West Chester University. My number one priority is always my students! 

My hobbies include reading, cooking, hiking, visiting the mountains, and bike riding with my family. I enjoy spending time with my husband and two boys. We had an adventurous summer that included a trip to Vancouver Island. But now I'm excited to be back to school! Together we can make this year a meaningful, memorable, and fun learning experience.
