IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR PARENTS OF PRIVATE SCHOOL STUDENTS
EMERGENCY CLOSINGS
In the event Upper Merion Area School District dismisses school early due to inclement weather or other emergency, we will pick up at private schools as soon as possible. Please refrain from contacting the Transportation Department during these times. This ties up the phone lines and causes a delay in the dismissal process. Office staff is contacting drivers and schools coordinating dismissal for all students. During inclement weather the bus will always be later than normal, possibly up to an hour or more. Try not be concerned. Your child is being transported by our professional drivers and in the event of any mishap you will be notified immediately.

LENGTH OF BUS RIDE
The transportation department makes every attempt to minimize the length of time each student is on the bus. Currently there is no law governing the amount of time a student ican be on a school bus. Many districts have multiple schools combined into one run depending on location, distance and the amount of students.
OUT-OF-DISTRICT VISITORS
Due to insurance regulations the UMASD Transportation Department will not bus students from other districts to your home. If your child wishes to have a friend come home with them, other transportation arrangements must be made.
IN-DISTRICT VISITORS
If your child wishes to get off the bus with another student at a stop other than his/her assigned stop, a note signed by the parent and principal must be given to the bus driver.
LATE TO BUS STOP
UMASD requests that all students be at their bus stop 10 minutes prior to the scheduled time. If your child misses the bus due to lateness it is the parent's responsibility to provide transportation for the student. If we do not transport your child to school we will assume that he/she did not attend. You must contact the transportation department if PM transportation is needed.
HOUSE STOPS
Please be sure your child is waiting at the curb 10 minutes prior to the scheduled time. Students should not wait inside their front door until the bus arrives. It is not the responsibility of the driver to look for or wait for your child as this delays the entire route. Buses will not return to your stop if your child was missed due to the student not being outside at the specified time.
