2025 Summer EBT Info- SUN BUCKS
Summer is a time when many children may not have access to the free and reduced-price meals they get during the school year, and households might need a little extra help putting meals on the table.
SUN Bucks, is a permanent Pennsylvania’s Summer EBT program, is a grocery benefits program that provides households with a one-time payment of $120 for each eligible child to buy food while school is out. Benefits can be used at local participating retailers to purchase groceries.
Many children will get these benefits automatically, but some households will need to apply. The benefits will be added to an existing SNAP/TANF EBT card or a newly issued Summer EBT card. It is important to note that students enrolled in a Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) school (this includes Upper Merion’s Bridgeport Elementary School) are not automatically eligible for SUN Bucks. Even though CEP students receive free meals during the regular school year, they must be DC or categorically eligible in order to automatically receive SUN Bucks. Otherwise, the household must apply for SUN Bucks through DHS.
Most eligible households will get SUN Bucks automatically if they are getting other benefits, but some households may need to apply for the program. Use the Eligibility Navigator to determine if your child is eligible for SUN Bucks and whether you need to apply.
Please note that Upper Merion Area School District does not disperse or issue the benefits. If you need assistance, do not call the school district or the UMASD Food Services Department.
