Superintendent Goals

UPPER MERION AREA SCHOOL DISTRICT
SUPERINTENDENT'S OBJECTIVE PERFORMANCE STANDARDS
2025-2026 SCHOOL YEAR

STUDENT ACADEMIC GROWTH, ACHIEVEMENT, AND SUPPORT

The Superintendent will utilize continuous improvement strategies, professional learning communities, and collaborative structures across all levels of the District to ensure that high academic achievement remains the District's highest priority. Using an equity lens, the Superintendent will review and evaluate existing programs and instructional practices for effectiveness, using student progress metrics, staff input, and stakeholder feedback to identify areas requiring refinement.

To support this work, the Superintendent will commission a comprehensive curriculum audit during the 2025-2026 school year. This audit will examine curriculum alignment, instructional materials, assessment practices, and implementation fidelity across all content areas, including reading, mathematics, and science. The findings will guide the development of a strategic plan, including recommendations for curriculum revision, professional learning, and system-wide instructional coherence. The administration will present the results and recommendations to the Board, staff, and community.

The Superintendent will continue to supervise the alignment and implementation of common performance assessments and standards to promote data sharing, strengthen instructional decision-making, and support consistent expectations for all students. Regular school visitations and data review sessions with administrators will be used to set, monitor, and support improvement goals as part of the evaluation process.

By the start of the 2026-2027 school year, the Superintendent will begin implementing the recommendations of the curriculum audit, ensuring the adoption of aligned curricular resources, targeted instructional strategies, formative assessments, and data-driven intervention systems to close achievement gaps and promote a culture of academic excellence. This goal remains aligned with the District's commitment to equity and continuous improvement.

DIVERSITY, EQUITY, AND INCLUSION

By the end of the 2025-2026 school year, K-12 students actively participate in challenging coursework aligned with high academic standards, regardless of background and identified needs.

  • Supervise the review of current course offerings and enrollment data to identify gaps in participation across student demographic groups.
  • Monitor and track student enrollment and completion rates in challenging courses every quarter, disaggregated by demographic characteristics.
  • Conduct assessments and surveys to measure student perceptions and identify areas for improvement.
  • Report findings to the Board and make appropriate recommendations.

COMMUNICATION AND ENGAGEMENT

The Superintendent will strengthen District communication and community engagement by implementing the recommendations outlined in the recently completed communications audit. Throughout the 2025-2026 school year, the Superintendent will collaborate with staff, families, and community stakeholders to refine communication protocols, enhance message clarity and consistency, and establish systems that promote transparent, timely, and accessible information sharing across all platforms. This work will include updating communication tools, increasing opportunities for two-way feedback, and improving alignment between school- and district-level messaging. By the start of the 2026-2027 school year, the Superintendent will present to the Board, staff, and community a clear implementation plan detailing progress to date, upcoming action steps, and measurable indicators of success to ensure improved communication practices Districtwide.
