• What are the goals of the ESL Program?

The primary goal of ESL is to assist English Language Learners (ELLs) in developing English language proficiency in order to meet state and district academic standards, in addition to aiding in the socio-cultural adjustment to life in the United States.
Therefore, instruction is designed to prepare students to successfully and appropriately participate in all mainstream classes at grade level. To meet these goals, ESL instruction emphasizes the development of language proficiency in the four domains of listening, speaking, reading, and writing for academic, as well as social purposes.
