Policies and Procedures
HOMEWORK: Your child will have homework most every school night (Monday-Thursday). The homework will be written on a weekly schedule and placed in their homework folder. Homework is to be completed for the next school day unless otherwise noted, and it should be placed back in the homework folder. If your child is absent, please make arrangements to pick up the homework or have a friend deliver it. Your child has 3 days to make up missed homework. Reading for 10-15 minutes every night is part of your child’s life work, and they will record the books that they have read in their Reading Logs which need to be signed by a caregiver each night. Thank you for working with us to establish good work habits that will be helpful throughout your child's schooling.
HOMEWORK FOLDER : We will provide a Folder for homework(RED). Each night your child should complete the homework, and return it to this folder to be brought back to school. Check folder for additional notes. On a daily basis your child’s folder will have papers returned during the week. Please clean it out each weekend to help keep the folder organized.
HOMEROOM PARENTS: Homeroom parents are needed to help throughout the year with holiday parties and other extra jobs along the way. Please let your child’s teacher know if you are interested.
LUNCH: Money for milk, snacks, and platters should be kept in a wallet, change purse, or envelope with your child’s name. The cafeteria accepts checks for lunch accounts that will subtract the amount each time your child buys lunch.
SNACKS: Please provide a nutritious snack daily. Snack time is brief; please keep this in mind when preparing the snack.
Parent Participation:
Throughout the school year we have celebrations and field trips that you may want to attend. In the beginning of the school year, I request a party donation of $15.00 so that our homeroom parents can provide treats and supplies for the entire year. Homeroom parents are responsible for organizing the celebrations for our classroom. I will also need a limited number of chaperones for our field trips. More details will follow.
School Attendance/Absences:
Your childs regular and prompt attendance at school is crucial to his/her success. Please view school as a priority, and see to it that your child attends everyday except in cases of illness and emergency. If your child is absent, please call the Candlebrook office at 610-305-3700(3702). Your child will have a week to complete and return any missed work. Please remember to include an absence note when your child returns.
School Hours:
8:40 - Doors open
8:50 - Class begins
9:00 - Attendence submitted
3:28 - Students dismissed
Notes:
Notes are needed for absences, early dismissals, and if your childs dismissal information changes, even if it is just for one day! A change in dismissal includes a different mode of transportation, a different person picking up the child, or an early dismissal. If a child is to go home with a friend, I need a written note from both families. Without a written note, your child will be sent home by his/her usual method of transportation. My main priority is your childs safety!
Money:
On occasion it will be necessary for your child to bring money to school. Always send money in a sealed envelope with the following information written on it:
1. Your childs first and last name
2. The amount of money
3. The purpose for the money (book money, party money, etc.)
4. Teacher name
