I believe the academic and social development of students is best met through the team approach. By partnering with families, we can better help students to develop effective academic habits and make positive life choices. Interdisciplinary units and projects provide students the enduring skills to draw connections between concepts in various disciplines. Together as a team, we carefully monitor academic progress and coordinate our efforts to provide students solid foundations for success.
Writing: Our class follows the Writer's Workshop approach to authoring. Weekly themes and writing prompts will require students to write for a variety of purposes and audiences. Students will have individual conferences about their progress throughout the writing process.
Literature: Novels, short stories, drama, and poetry are all integral parts of this program. Our main text is Prentice Hall Literature’s Timeless Voices, Timeless Themes. Ongoing theme assignments and writing prompts will require students to think and write critically about the works discussed in class.
Technology: Technology will be integrated into the curriculum with the use of the iPads, libraries, and computer labs. Students will also use a variety of district software and publishing programs.
