On behalf of the Board of Trustees for the Upper Merion Area Educational Foundation, we would like to thank everyone who participated, volunteered, or donated to the 3rd Annual Viking 5k & Family Fun Run.

Thanks to you, we were able to raise $12,500! All of those proceeds will directly benefit students in all six schools of the Upper Merion Area School District. The funds will be used to enhance the education in the District through programs in the areas of Technology, Arts, Scholastic Enhancement, and Cultural Enrichment.

With your generous support, some of the projects we have been able to fund for the 16/17 school year have been:

    • Every Teacher is a teacher of literacy: The Studio Library – supporting the Art programs in Roberts, Candlebrook, Bridgeport, and Caley Elementary schools.
    • Social skills library to support critical thinking – Bridgeport Elementary & UMAMS
    • Greenhouse & Gardening project – UMAHS Science
    • Gizmos and Gadgets! Unleash your inner inventor - Roberts Elementary School
    • Strengthening Reading Skills and Creating a Culture of Reading in the Home – Candlebrook ESL

This is just a small sampling of the wonderful and innovative programs that have been made possible through the Foundation and we cannot wait to see what experiences we can help bring to the classroom next year!

If you want to learn more about the Educational Foundation, you can visit us online at www.umasd.org/umaef.

    Thank you again!
