Classroom Policies and Procedures
Expectations
1) Respect – Respect all members of the classroom including your peers, the teacher and yourself to create a safe and fun learning environment for all
2) Courage – Try something new! Language learning is an active process that requires you to put forth an effort and to take risks
3) Preparation – Show up to class ready to learn
Supplies
- Folder – to keep and organize papers
- A writing utensil; pen or pencil
- Charged Macbook (provided by UMAHS)
Grading
- Grades: Grading will be completed in a timely manner. Please see below the grading categories
- Presentational Assignments
- Interpretive Assignments
- Interpersonal Assignments
- Application
- Absent: It is your responsibility to turn in any late work and/or to reference Schoology to see what you missed
- Participation: You are expected to participate and speak the target language during class activities
Academic dishonesty
- Complete your own work to the best of your ability
- DO NOT use online translators, such as GOOGLE TRANSLATE to write short answer responses or compositions. These translators can be useful to look up individual words but are often incorrect when full sentences are typed in
- The use of translators misrepresents YOUR ABILITY to write in the target language. This use is considered cheating!
- Recommended online dictionary: www.wordreference.com or https://www.linguee.com/
