2022-2023 Co-Op
Objectives of Course: Why take it?
To prepare you for the world of work and career whether or not you attend college.
To develop tools that will better equip you in your career, develop budgeting and financial skills, develop interview skills to better market oneself and you will better understand the legal ramifications of many industries. Concepts will focus on the following:
Schedule (Seminar Work):
- Unit: Applying for a Job
- Unit: Interviewing
- Unit: Research you & your future career ideas
- Unit: Workplace ethics & legal matters
- Unit: Budgeting & Financing
- Unit: Communication at work
- Unit: Teamwork & Leadership
- Unit: Time & Info Management
Tips to Succeed:
- ALL of this material must be covered in a weekly seminar so your attendance is CRITICAL. You are required to attend the Monday or Tuesday Zoom meeting Seminar and your attendance is graded. If you have an excused absence, you must sign up on the calendar to meet with your teacher. If your absence is unexcused, you cannot make up any of that day’s work. One F in a weekly seminar could drastically affect your grade. DO NOT BE ABSENT ON ZOOM SEMINAR DAYS!!
- Turn in the timesheets. Really!
- You are required to keep all material as well as legal papers either digitally or actual paper. There will be a final portfolio due at the end of the year that will incorporate this work. Keep your documents in the filing cabinet next to Mrs. Jowett’s desk. You are responsible for all of your papers once they have been given back to you with the final grade.
