SUGGESTIONS FOR VOLUNTEERING AT ROBERTS
Volunteers Enrich the Child’s Experience at School

  • Chorus/Spring Concert – help children learn lines and/or music, help with crowd control, help with costumes.
  • Library – check in/out books, shelve books, straighten shelves, donate a book to the Library in honor of your child or loved one.
  • Contribute incentives/prizes to your child’s teacher.
  • Donate food to Election Day Bake Sale, Spring Fair, PTC functions, Grandparents Day.
  • Take pictures at assemblies, field trips, special school events for the Reporter (school district newsletter), newspaper, internet, and for your child’s 4th grade yearbook.
  • Help your child’s teacher – do book orders, laminate, projects for the classroom, help in Computer Lab (especially Kindergarten and 1st grade), donate a book to the classroom library.
  • There is a need for parents to be on committees, i.e. Spring Fair, Turkey Bingo, Winter Wonderland, Fall Festival, Red Ribbon Week, PTC Funding Allocations, Facilities (UMASD).
  • Help supply articles to the Managing Editor of the Roberts Raccoon Tales (school newsletter).
  • Gardening – maintain/fix up existing gardens, plant bulbs, landscape, WEED. Once or twice a year Beautification Days are held to clean up our school and plant flowers.
  • PTC Spring Fair – Held in May, we need help from every family to help run booths, set up and clean up, Food Committee, Raffle Committee, Prizes Committee, Ticket Committee, help arrange the Vendors, etc. This is an incredible Fair your children will never forget.
  • Help is needed at many of the school and PTC events, i.e. Fun Day, PTC Book Fair, PTC Ice Cream Social, PTC Book Swap, and with donations of General Mills/Genuardi tapes/Campbells labels/Tyson food labels.
  • Support Partnership events such as Family Reading Night and Family Math Night.
  • Monitor progress of Wednesday Walking Club to increase physical fitness.
  • Help with Reading Incentive Committee - to chart student reading progress over the year.

As you can see, there is a great need for volunteers. If you have the interest, we have the opportunity for you to be involved. We appreciate your support in any way possible.
