Teacher Certification

Criteria for Employment in Upper Merion Area School District
 
Requirements for becoming a teacher in Pennsylvania can be found on the Pennsylvania Department of Education website ww.pde.state.pa.us/
 
To be employed by the Upper Merion Area School District, the applicant must provide:
  2. Letter of Interest
  3. Resume
  4. Copy of Pennsylvania Certification
  5. Copies of Graduate and Undergraduate Transcripts
  6. Praxis Exam Scores
  7. Three (3) Letters of Recommendation
  9. Current Act 34, 114 and 151 Clearances
    Act 34:   PA Criminal History Clearance Check or apply online
    Act 114: FBI Federal Criminal History Record -

                 Register Online link
    Once fingerprinted -- please provide our office with Registration ID number. 
    Act 151: Child Abuse Clearance
  10. Employee Health Record Form (must be dated within one year of hire date)
  11. TB results

Exam Descriptions:

All teachers in the State of Pennsylvania are required by the PDE to complete state mandated exams before being eligible for certification.  Registration instructions, test dates and study guides are available at https://www.tcs.ed.state.pa.us/
